THE LODGE AT LITTLE DUCK

Is Excited to Announce a New Caribou Hunting Opportunity

“EDEHON LAKE CARIBOU CAMP” (Nunavut)

We are very excited to announce that in partnership with Henik Lake Adventures, we have added a second location for Caribou hunting in the Territory of Nunavut. This new hunting camp is located on Edehon Lake which is roughly 70 miles north of The Lodge at Little Duck, or conversely 30 miles north of the 60th parallel, which is the longitudinal line that separates Manitoba from Nunavut. This area is home to the 400,000 strong Qamanirjuaq Caribou Herd, one of the healthiest and best managed Caribou Herds in the world. You will fly via King Air from Thompson MB to The Lodge at Little Duck, and once there transfer to a floatplane for the final leg to Edehon Lake Camp.

Edehon Lake is a smaller, intimate and hands on hunting camp situated on the tundra that will accommodate up to 8 hunters per week. This new hunting camp essentially puts you in the best possible location to hunt huge Trophy Caribou Bulls that are making their way south to their wintering grounds. You will basically have the first opportunity at hunting these Caribou before any other outfitter or hunter has further south.

Edehon Lake is a permanent camp, in that all structures are left standing year round. The buildings are Weatherhaven structures, which all agree are the Cadillac of all tent structures. Weatherhaven Tents are also the first choice of the U.S. military, mining companies, and commercial wilderness operators world-wide. They are fully insulated and have thermostatically controlled propane heat for your comfort. This camp offers other amenities such as hot water showers, washrooms, comfortable sleeping quarters, separate kitchen and eating area, delicious home cooked meals, satellite phone, internet, pressurized water system and a dry room for your gear at the end of your hunting day. Also onsite, in addition to your experienced guides is a camp manager and cook. This experience is really a wilderness hunting adventure like no other, and being on the tundra, you are right in the middle of all the hunting action

This hunt is 6 days in duration. Due to a 12 hour no hunt after flying rule in Nunavut, the first day is spent getting into camp from Thompson MB via our main lodge, sighting in rifles, and scouting the area for the next day’s hunt, or fishing for some Lake Trout or Northern Pike. You will however have 5 full days of hunting. On the 7th day, you will depart for your trip home.

Our personal and reliable hunting guides come from the Arctic community of Arviat, and have many years of experience and knowledge both on the land and in hunting Caribou. These individuals are friendly , outgoing and true hunting professionals that take great pride in helping our guests make this hunting trip a once of a lifetime adventure.
